The Joy of Six Aint Happenin for Sorenstam

Annika Sorenstam's quest to win six straight LPGA tournaments appears to be over already. Her 5-over-par 76 in the first round at Kingsmill leaves her well off the pace. I guess one thing Danielle Amiee can say is that she only lost to Annika by three strokes in her first appearance on Tour.

Toms Struggles Mightily; Tiger stalking Sergio

Well, the troubles continued Thursday for Shreveport's own David Toms. His 79 at Quail Hollow leaves him basically no chance to make the cut. He will have now missed three of four cuts -- quite surprising considering he was one of the best players over the first three months of the season. Wonder what's up?

Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia parlayed six birdies in his first nine holes to a first-round 66, which leads the Wachovia Championship by two strokes. Tiger Woods -- in his first start since the Masters -- and Vijay Singh fired 70s.

Defending champion Joey Sindelar is tied for second. What in the world is up with that! At 47, and after disappearing for more than a decade, Sindelar is golfing his ball.

Good News/Bad News for Amiee

OK, so Danielle Amiee -- the Big Break III winner -- managed to break 80. However, her 8-over-par 79 landed her tied for 136th, one stroke from dead last. It's a great thing for her to be able to play in the LPGA Tour event, but what does this do to the credibility of the show? Or the Futures Tour?

It's Danielle's Big Day

Danielle Amiee can put her money -- or her golf swing -- where her mouth is today. The winner of The Golf Channel's Big Break III: Ladies Only competition got an exemption into this week's Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill in Virginia.
The over/under is 83. I'll take the over.
She tees off at 11:55 a.m. Shreveport time.
